Data Residency

Effective date: 2026-07-28 · Version: 1.0

Summary

MicSer's production environment — both the application infrastructure that runs the platform and the cloud storage that holds your uploaded files and reports — is hosted entirely within the AWS Canada (Central) region (ca-central-1). Customer data is genuinely hosted within Canada; there is no cross-border replication or secondary region in production.

Where your data lives

Uploaded files and generated reports. Your uploaded HV/LOG files, station coordinate/metadata imports, and generated PDF reports are stored in a private, encrypted-at- rest AWS S3 bucket in the AWS Canada (Central) region.

Application and account data. Your organization, project, station, dataset, validation result, and account records are stored in a managed, access-controlled database that runs in the same AWS Canada (Central) region as the application itself.

Both categories of data — object storage and the database — sit in the same AWS region, and the application servers that process requests and run the validation engine also run there. No component of MicSer's production data path is hosted outside AWS Canada (Central).

No cross-border replication

MicSer does not replicate, mirror, or otherwise copy customer data to a secondary AWS region or to infrastructure outside Canada as part of normal production operation. Database backups — described in the Data Retention & Deletion Policy — are stored in the same AWS Canada (Central) region as the primary data they back up.

Consistency with governing law

This residency arrangement is consistent with MicSer's Terms of Service, which are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Hosting production infrastructure and data entirely within Canada reflects that jurisdiction in practice, not just on paper.

Certifications

MicSer does not currently hold any formal third-party compliance certification (for example, SOC 2 or ISO 27001). We would rather state this plainly than imply a certification we do not hold.
